Getting Here

Niseko is an area located in Hokkaido, the North island of Japan.

Booking your flight to New Chitose AIrport is the first step of your journey to Niseko. Many flights by various carriers fly into New Chitose Airport, including daily flights from East/South-East Asia cities.

Niseko is about 100 km southwest of Sapporo city and Sapporo New Chitose Airport (2 hour driving distance).

From Sapporo and New Chitose Airport, trains and buses are convenient options, but the most recommended way to travel is by rental car.

Train / Bus

Train

The train ride to Niseko is very scenic. Passing by the ocean and through the countryside. It does take a bit of time, and you’ll need to change trains a couple of times to get here. But for those who don’t mind taking a bit more time, the train may add to your Niseko experience.

There is no direct train from the airport to Kutchan (the closest major station to Niseko) so you need to change at Otaru.

Once you get to Kutchan Station you will still need to make the last leg to Niseko: a 10 minute taxi ride or bus. The whole trip from the airport to Niseko should take 3-4 hours.

For more information and the latest timetables and fares, please visit the JR Hokkaido Railway website.

Bus

Combining trains and buses is also recommended, as it can reduce waiting times between connections in some cases.

Example: Take a JR train from New Chitose Airport to Otaru Station, then transfer to a bus at Otaru Station to Kutchan.

From Kutchan Station, please use a bus or taxi to reach the “Hirafu area,” where the Championship venue is located.
