We are delighted to announce that Ivan Basso, two-time Giro d'Italia champion, will join Niseko Discovery Cycling 2026 as a guest rider on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Ivan Basso will participate in the 100 km cycling course.
Recognized as one of the greatest Grand Tour riders of the 2000s, Basso captured overall victories at the Giro d'Italia in 2006 and 2010, finished 2nd overall at the 2005 Tour de France, and built an outstanding career as one of Italy's most accomplished professional cyclists.
As a special guest rider at Niseko Discovery Cycling 2026, Basso will ride alongside cyclists from around the world while enjoying the spectacular scenery of Hokkaido's Niseko region.
Participants will have the rare opportunity not only to take part in the event, but also to share the road, ride together, and interact with a former Giro d'Italia champion—an unforgettable experience for cyclists of all levels.

Rather than a race, the event is a fun ride that allows participants to experience the breathtaking landscapes, local culture, and regional cuisine of the Niseko area. Riders of all abilities—from beginners to experienced cyclists are welcome to join.
